A Sexual Healing and Racial Empowerment Group for Women of Color

Have you ever felt like you just can’t talk to anyone about sex? Do you feel like society has made you feel ashamed, ignored, embarrassed, or confused about sex, especially because you are a woman, and ESPECIALLY because you’re a woman of color? Yup, we know the feeling and we got you!

Your co-therapists, Yadira Castillo, LICSW, LCSW-C and Azaria Davis, LMSW, will be your tour guides. You’ll journey through the winding roads of sexuality, stopping along the way to explore the sights and sounds of how race and culture have shaped the structures of your sexual landscape. Discover, alongside your travel companions, the foundational elements from society, religion, race, gender, and more that have influenced your beliefs and attitudes around sex, pleasure, and intimacy. This is an opportunity to not only visit, but also reinforce that which serves you or rebuild entirely that which doesn’t. It’s time to take your sexual landscape tour!

New Dates Coming Soon!

Week 1

We’ll begin by connecting with your fellow SHARE participants. Beginning with an exploration of shame and intersectionality, you’ll start to feel some lightbulbs going off as you feel validated and connected with the women around you.

Week 2

Have you considered how your sexual experiences, messaging, and beliefs are impacted by race and ethnicity? Here we’ll begin to draw connections between these two core parts of your identity, noting what serves you and what doesn’t.

Week 3

Sexuality can feel so isolating. This week we’ll start debunking some myths that make us feel other, especially as it relates to our gender. Spoiler alert: You’ll find you’re not alone!

Week 4

As we wrap up, we’ll tie together what we’ve learned together. Taking time to find gratitude in our shared experience, and share what our intentional, empowered sexual selves look like going forward.

Our Goals and Objectives

  1. SISTERHOOD. Your ability to show up for yourself, and for the other women in our group, creates this powerful shared experience that everyone will take with them forever.

  2. You know that feeling of finally getting to the finish line of a goal you’ve been working so hard at? That relief and excitement rolled into one, like “I just did that! I can’t believe it?!” Now imagine that around these two core parts of your identity: race and sexuality. Hello empowered!

  3. Isolation and stigma are breeding grounds for shame, embarrassment, confusion, and feelings of inadequacy. Let’s nip that in the bud, like now.

  4. Only 4 weeks?! What do I do after?! SHARE is just the first step. You’ll build a toolbox that you can take with you to keep growing your sexual landscape.

Azaria Davis, LMSW

“SHARE is an opportunity to reflect on the layers of your identities and how the meaning placed on them by society and ourselves can impact how we experience pleasure and intimacy.“

Yadira Castillo, LCSW-C, LICSW

“SHARE came out of wanting to create a space that is important for both of us: sexuality, justice, and our identities. A space where we can openly, safely, and with curiosity explore how our identities have influenced and affected our sexuality and pleasure. Azaria and I are excited in starting this journey to unlearn and heal with you all.”
